Basic Info
Name: Albert Claus Kaufmann
Nickname: Al, Kaufmann
Gender: Male
Age: 15
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Personality: Al has always been a bit socially awkward. He can still hold up a conversation and can carry out any order given to him, but he doesn't talk as well as most people. He is generally easy-going and spaces out often. He is often seen as not to bright because of it. He has a very strong conscience, and is very emotional at times. Almost the opposite of a hardened soldier, even going so far as to openly cry in front of comrades at times. Al also has issues with self-confidence. This also turns him into a stuttering fool when around any woman who doesn't act rude or abrasive around him. He is very physical in the way he communicates, opting for a hug rather than a salute whenever possible. He enjoys the simple beauties in life, often lounging and cloud-watching when off break. While in combat, Al is, more-or-less, a coward. He has average combat skills, but you would expect much more from a guy of his height and build. He does fight very passionately whenever his friends are in danger, although. To put it simply, Al prefers the simple pleasures in life, and would generally avoid most conflict unless absolutely necessary.

Appearance: Al is a very large man, mostly towering over his comrades. He isn't very muscular, given his size. Of course, anybody he could see was stronger than the average man, but his body isn't toned, going so far as to have a small gut, even with the physically taxing line of work. Over his uniform, he wears a stained ascot over his collar, and wears thick, square glasses over his face. He does not shave often, and usually has a thin layer of scruff over his face. He does not tuck in his uniform if he can get by unnoticed by superiors.

Character Information
Likes: 1. Smells. Al has always had a hyper-active nose, and loves good smells (girl's hair, fruit, cooking meat, ect.)
2. Manual labor. Although it may seem strange to others, Al has always working up a sweat and feeling productive.
3. Challenges. Al is not very competitive, but loves to gauge his skills to his comrades in various acts and dares.
Dislikes: 1. Teasing. For being rather slow and having a bit of a weight problem, Al loathes bullies and like-minded individuals.
2. Lose. Al sees most people as his friends, and he hates losing his friends. In his line of work, this is rather unfortunate. He is seen as a bit of a crybaby when it comes to death, and will almost always shed tears, even without liking the individual.
Fears: 1. Being the problem. Al hates being the one to mess up jobs or assignments, knowing that in this line of work, that leads to somebody dying.
2. Fighting a woman. it seems silly, but Al has a basic set of rules, and one of those rules is "I ain't never hit a woman, an' I ain't stopping that now."
Motivations: 1. Respect. Almost like a dog, Al seeks the praise of his comrades and the higher-ups.
2. Survival. Without his effort, the human race could be wiped out. What could be a better motivator than that?
3. Duty. Being in the army is a great honor to Al. He is the first and last defense against humanity's enemies, Titan or otherwise.
Character History
Background: Al was born in Trost, growing up in a small house with his grandparents, who worked as woodworkers. He has no memories or possessions of his parents, who he has never actually met in his life. Whenever he would ask his grandparents about them, he would usually just get hit on the head and sent to his room. Through the years, he pushed any hopes of finding his parents to the back of his mind. He grew up struggling to receive a rudimentary education, and helping his grandparents with their woodworking or the small, poor excuse of a garden that they grew behind their house. At the age of 12, he joined the Cadets after several suggestions about his size being useful in that line of work. With the push for all able bodies to enlist, and him not really thinking about his future, agreed with these comments and joined. During the ceremony in the beginning of training, he was positioned next to a small woman, with red hair and freckles, who was being chewed out by the higher-up assigned to evaluate the new recruits. Suddenly, the man reached forward, and grabbed the woman, and by that moment Al had enough of this guy. He broke the man's grip on the girl, stepped in between him, and said "There ain't no honor in treatin' this nice lady like this. Um, Sir." What happened next was a bit hazy to him, but apparently he did wrong. He still felt like it was backwards to treat people like that. This got him running laps around the perimeter almost daily. Although he is still slower than most other cadets, even with his gear. Unless he just lets gravity run it's course. He finished training more or less without any real trouble, graduating at 39, nowhere near top of the class. Although he planned on joining the MP, that wasn't happening, and after witnessing what the Titans did to his hometown, and his family, he joined the Scouting Regiment. Only time will tell what stories Al will tell, how long he has to tell them. Who he tells them with. Whatever happens, he hopes it'll be one hell of a ride.
